Michigan Recreation and Park Association
When it came to their Web site, Michigan Recreation and Park Association officials wanted more than a new look; they wanted to be better represented as “the” forum for users to get up-to-the-minute information on industry news, legislation, careers and events.
Their new Web site achieves that and then some, so now members and the public can benefit even more from what the association does best: highlighting all that the Michigan outdoors has to offer.
Michigan-based Web development company i2Integration completely redesigned their website --www.mrpaonline.org-- including rotating graphics that change by the season; simplified job postings that allow members to add, update and delete entries; and added functionality such as a Buyer's Guide and career center for commercial members to post their logos, links to their Web sites and the ability to search by keyword; plus an agency finder for programs open to the public that’s as simple as typing in a ZIP code to find local agencies.
The bells and whistles translate to dollars and cents. Case in point: the association’s Grand Experience, an annual fall trip to Mackinac Island that has been offered since 1967.
Members now can type in their ZIP code and find the nearest MRPA agent to help book the trip.
“That trip is a key part of MRPA’s non-dues revenue,” Executive Director Dennis Schornack said. “That’s important to our bottom line.”
The Web site also utilizes the free, open-source DotNetNuke content management system, allowing MRPA staff to manage content administration.
“DotNetNuke has made everything so much easier,” said Miranda Scripter, associate responsible for the day-to-day administration of the site. “I can create new pages in seconds and update in seconds.”
John Forsberg, CEO of i2Integration, said he’s proud of the work his team did on the MPRA Web site. That’s saying a lot: Since 2004, the company has implemented more than 250 DotNetNuke websites for clients from small non-profit organizations to Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of industries, and is one of the largest DotNetNuke providers in the U.S.
"The new site is a major leap forward for MRPA,” Forsberg said. “Not only is it a good-looking site, but there's a great deal of depth in terms of content and functionality. Plus, using DotNetNuke and the thousands of add-on content modules that are available, MRPA has a solid foundation to grow the site in the future, and -- perhaps more importantly -- they can do it completely in-house, without tech staff or outsourcing.”
“We’ve been pleased with our work with i2Integration,” Schornack said. “They’ve been very responsive to our needs, and we feel like we got our money’s worth.”
